This year marks the 140th anniversary of Henry and Ella Appenzeller's arrival in Korea.  To celebrate their legacy of faith, we are hosting a special weekend with music, guest speakers and more!  Henry and Ella were members of First united Methodist Church, sent by our church as missionaries.  Henry is widely regarded as the father of Protestant Christianity in Korea.

On Sunday, April 27, our choir and full Orchestra will present the cantata, "All is Yours" by composer James Ra.  Dr. Ra, of Korean heritage and a former student of our music director, Dr. Brian Norcross, composed the piece to honor the Appenzellers and other missionaries to Korea, First UMC, and Dr. Norcross.

On Sunday, at 9:30 AM, Dr. Kale Yu, a scholar of Korean Christianity and professor Religion and Philosophy at High Point University, NC will present, "Women's Advantage:  Methodist Women Missionaries and Korean Bible Women."

Those unable to attend Sunday can join us for an open rehearsal of "All is Yours" on Saturday, April 26 followed by a luncheon and a lecture, "What's So Special About Appenzeller?"

We invite everyone to join this special celebration and encourage you to bring friends, especially those of Korean heritage.
