This amazing concert celebrating the 100th Anniversary of the School of Music features:
- 70 musicians
- The alumni women’s choir
- A mix of Western classical and traditional Korean music and instruments
The “Giving Thanks” performance honors the historical ties between Lancaster and Ewha. Henry Appenzeller, a missionary sent by First UMC played a pivotal role in fostering education and cultural exchange between Korean and the US. His daughter Alice Appenzeller, significantly contributed to Ewha’s development through her fundraising efforts, teaching and leadership as the president from 1922-1939. Today, Ewha remains one of the largest female schools, and one of the most prestigious universities in South Korea.
This concert is a heartfelt gesture of gratitude, celebrating the enduring connection between the two communities through the universal language of music. Join us!
