Welcome to the website of First UMC of Lancaster. By exploring the site you'll discover the vibrant and vital ministries that have identified this local church as a place of new beginnings, of spiritual awakenings, and of meaningful ministries of service to the city and beyond. We Methodists love the Scriptures, we honor tradition, we reason together about the issues that face us as a nation, a culture and as the Church, and we help people experience and encounter the Living God, who has brought light from darkness, order from chaos, and death to life in Jesus Christ.
We're making important changes to how we welcome and invite people to First Church. A contemporary and two traditional services provide doors of entry to adore God, to proclaim the Gospel, and to act in ways of compassion, justice and love. "Christian Connections" brings adults together to go deeper into the faith in order to go out further in mission. "Upward" sports ministry reaches children and youth in the neighborhood and beyond with a basketball program that honors faith and healthy values. "Stephen Ministers" are available to be companions in the lives of people in pain and need support. Music, the arts, skateboarders, the Discovery Corner Preschool and many other ministries await you at First Church.

First Church is located in downtown Lancaster City on the corner of E. Walnut and N. Duke Streets. Parking is available behind our church and is easily accessed via Lemon Street or Christian Street. Handicap parking is available in designated spaces near the entrance. On Sunday mornings parking is also available for our guests and members at the Goodyear Service Center on the corner of N. Queen and E. Walnut Streets or The Village (on Christian Street). Directions and Parking Map
Make your worship with us a family experience by bringing your young kids to church with you! We have a fully operational, safely staffed nursery available for newborns through 2 year olds during our 9:30 and 10:45 services. Our nursery is child-friendly and our volunteers are always nurturing. Each volunteer is pre-screened, Safe Sanctuary trained and has experience caring for children. When the nursery is open our volunteers are clearly identified for your comfort and confidence in leaving your child in our care. Our new KIDS Church for children K-6th grade happens concurrently with our 9:30 Contemporary Worship, too. Drop your kids off for worship and small group in the fellowship hall while you worship in the Celebration Center.
