Membership and Partnership at First Church
If you are interested in joining First Church, either by profession of faith, reaffirmation of faith or transfer of letter, our New Partners Study is just for you. In this fun and exciting study you will meet different members of our staff, explore both the United Methodist Church and First Church, as well as discover how God has uniquely designed you to serve Christ in the church and community.
The 8-week study is broken into three distinct sections:
- Belonging 101
- Focuses on the 4 S's of First Church: Salvation, Statements, Strategy and Structure.
- Exploring 201
- Focuses on the Wesleyan "means of grace" as a source of continual spiritual development.
- Serving 301
- Uses the P.L.A.C.E. assessment to discover your personality, spiritual gifts, abilities, passions and experiences to encourage you to serve God in First Church and the community around us.
The Sunday following Exploring 201, we offer provisional membership to all non-transfer participants interested in continuing to explore First Church. Transfers from other churches will be accepted as full members on the same Sunday. You will be recognized during the service of your choice by either Pastor Bill or Pastor Kerry. Once Serving 301 has been completed full membership is recognized to all provisional members who wish to serve God and Lancaster through First Church.
